The Hero is Back! - Guitar Hero 5 Reaches Consumers Itching Hands

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Guitar Hero 5, the latest in the retinue of the award-winning, fret-slamming, head-pounding video game, is now available. New features to set it apart from its four older brothers are turning up the volume for diehards.

Guitar Hero 5 is more than just same old game, new packaging. There are enhancements that make it a worthy purchase for a true Guitar Hero fan. One of those improvements is a refurbished single player mode. In “career mode” players have more options available to them for switching instruments, say from the bass guitar to the lead vocals. A fancy new menu gives some educational insights on songs both past and present that are important in music history.

Guitar Hero 5: Rockfest

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Guitar Hero 5 features Rockfest, which is a set of multiplayer modes for your jam sessions. 1up has an interview about what all the modes actually are.

• Momentum - All players begin at medium difficulty and go up in difficulty when they hit 20 notes in a row. But they go down in difficulty after missing three notes.
• Streakers - Longer the streaks, the higher the scores.
• Perfectionist - Most notes hit equals king of the hill.
• Do or Die - Miss anymore that 3 successive notes and you’re out. At least until the next section.
• Elimination - A song is cut up and divided amongst rockers. The weakest link gets dropped til it’s last one standing.
• Pro Face-Off - The tried and true ax battle.

New Tracks Announced for GH5

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Caught wind on Kotaku about a few new tracks comin’ our way. Stoked for “Lithium”, “Du Hast” and “Only Happy when it Rains”, myself. It’s like part of the ‘going off to college’ part of my life soundtrack.

Attack! Attack! UK - “You And Me”
Bon Jovi - “You Give Love A Bad Name”
Darker My Love - “Blue Day”
The Duke Spirit - “Send A Little Love Token”
Elton John - “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)”
Face To Face - “Disconnected”
Garbage - “Only Happy When It Rains”
Kaiser Chiefs - “Never Miss A Beat”
Kiss - “Shout It Out Loud”
Love and Rockets - “Mirror People”
My Morning Jacket - “One Big Holiday”
Nirvana - “Lithium (Live)”
The Police - “So Lonely”
Rammstein – “Du Hast”
The Rolling Stones - “Sympathy For The Devil”
Sonic Youth - “Incinerate”
Screaming Trees - “Nearly Lost You”
Sublime - “What I Got”
The Sword - “Maiden, Mother & Crone”
Thin Lizzy - “Jailbreak”
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - “American Girl”
The White Stripes - “Blue Orchid”

Wish I didn’t dislike The White Stripes so much. Only thing worse than listening to a band you don’t like is actually playing one of their songs.
